Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the challenges for hospital-based healthcare professionals in the Midwest.
  2. Identify nosocomial infections and how to prevent, diagnose and treat them.
  3. Explain risk factors for opioid abuse and strategies to minimize potential for abuse.
  4. Describe signs and symptoms of alcohol withdrawal and evidence based strategies to manage alcohol withdrawal.
  5. Analyze inpatient guidelines for treatment of conditions such as COPD and Pneumonia.
  6. Describe key features of effective use of Advanced Practice Providers in hospital medicine groups and how to integrate them into practice.

 

Target Audience

This CME program is designed to meet the educational needs of Hospital Medicine Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Residents.

 

Conference Location

 

The program will be held at the 3rd floor Conference Center located in the Feinberg Pavilion of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, 251 E. Huron Street, Chicago, Illinois. Directions and parking information are available at www.nm.org.

 

 

 

Parking

Accreditation Statement

The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

Credit Designation Statement

The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 15.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses and other healthcare professionals will receive a Certificate of Participation. Cancellations must be made in writing to the Office of Continuing Medical Education. The paid registration fee, minus $50 administrative charge, will be refunded if cancellation is received by Monday, September 18, 2017.
